Pardon my extended absence. I needed to take a little sabbatical as I was having a little “what F*#% am I doing with my life” period. Anyone else been there? I was little overwhelmed with everything in general and felt like a little a hamster on that ever turning wheel. Get up feed the kids, make lunches, school, work, work , work, home, homework, dinner, blog, work sleep ect, ect. Alarm DING! Do it again. What on earth are you doing?? Are you going to wake up one day and say what happened?
I needed to slow it down. So a break was in order! I needed to reboot and recharge. Think about where I wanted things to go how I wanted to get there. I needed to re-light the candle and get inspired. Lots of reading from self-help to design mags. Lots of thinking from meditation to just sitting. Lots of hanging with my girls.
Now come the changes.
A bigger Team. I hired some help! I’ve got a new assistant extraordinaire. My sister is working for me a few days a week. She is a tremendous help and a great asset. She helps me be in two places at once. She is adding another perspective which is always helpful in this business. Plus it’s fun to hang out with my sister more often!
Yoga. It’s only been a week but I can see how you can get hooked on the this. I love the escape and I love taking the time for myself.
My house. I feel like I’m in a really good place with my house. Imposing the moratorium has totally helped me to stop OBSESSING over every little thing. I’m content with way things look and that’s a good thing.
A schedule. I’ve created a schedule for ALL the things in my life I need to find time for. I’ve even scheduled time to blog instead of 10pm at night. It’s such integral part of my job. I’m going to be adding some new post themes that I hope you will enjoy!
A reinvention. I love a good reinvention. I’m in the process of changing some things up in my business. I’m excited to reveal them as they happen. Stay tuned!
I can’t this image and the PANTS out of my head!
of course you need to be 8 feet tall to actually pull them off.
Hope you have some fun plans for the weekend mine is good a mix of work and play. We are meeting with our accountant tonight. How’s that for a romantic evening! I also lost all my bookmarks this week when they had to wipe my hard drive so I have to go back and rediscover all the blogs I love and maybe some new ones too.
I know it is a little early to right off winter but a stroll into any store these days will put you on spring high alert. The patterns and colors that are popping out are fantastic and can certainly put you in a good mood. But on of my wardrobe and decoration mainstays is a good winter white. It’s the first thing I each for if I don’t know what to wear. Maybe that’s a brunette thing.
Ugh! I spent waaaay too much time cleaning my house this weekend and it makes me want to throw so many things away and live a little more simply. Something I REALLY need to work on in 2013. Love how simple and gorgeous this Parisienne apartments are that you can rent via Paris in Haven. Whether you need to sleep just you and your sweet and you’ve got a whole brude there are many options. And if Paris isn’t your thing then London, Provence and Tuscany are available too. It is be very hard to choose where to go first.
I want I’m dying to get away, who’s coming?
Look out you white kitchen lovers I’m seeing lot’s of dark kitchens popping up in design. And trust me that is not a bad thing. Balance out the darker hues with white counters and /or back splashes. I love this trend it’s such a stunning accent to the centerpiece of your home.
The many uses for beautiful teacups. Do you use tea cups for anything out of the ordinary? I don’t but sure do like the idea of storing all my precious jewels in them!
Some swoon worthy interiors from Nightingale Designs. Soft beachy style perfectly paired with touches of modern accents.

I have been driving around with the March 2013 House Beautiful on my front seat, thumbing through it when I have a second and this room just speaks to me. In an interview the designer said she used 6 wallpapers in this house. My hero! Check out the detail on the drapes, the pattern on the rug and those pretty chairs! I love this and hope you do too.
I totally hate this holiday but with kids it such a good excuse to uby them lots of cute little treats. And I did break down and buy husband a sappy card too. I beat him to the punch because despite the “don’t get me anything rule” he always does something sweet and I’m that girl who hates the über lovey dovey stuff. Totally makes me squirm! If you know me, you know I was not born with that gene. Hence hating this holiday.
Do you have that rule and break it too?
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
this is Meg Biram’s manifesto tee for February. Very appropriate and so cute!

When you add window treatments to it will transform that room. When you add details to a window treatment whether you are creating custom drapes or embellishing some ready made ones it totally elevates the look. I love the special trim to perk up a plain shade or a fun pom pom to at that touch of whimsy to a traditional room. Banding, trimming and color blocking are all ways to make that window treatment stand out.
Be creative and it will totally pay off!
